Coming Soon to Your Co-op

Thanks for tuning in to this week's PFC eNews. Have we got some stuff going on for you! May is an exciting time for food in our area, and your PFC team has been hard at work making it special!

Opening Day of Kalamazoo Farmers Market is this Saturday! Join all your friends at the first market of the season for fresh, local delights from local growers, producers, food trucks, and artisans. There will also be live music performances by Dede and the Dream and Mitchie Moore, as well as a cooking demo using asparagus by Chef Cary Allen from the American Culinary Federation.

Spring has sprung in the produce department: you'll see local ramps, fiddleheads, green garlic, black garlic, great greens from Fitz Farms and Windshadow, local spinach, and local mushrooms arriving over the coming weeks.

Owner Appreciation Days! starts this Friday, May 3, through next Tuesday, May 7. We love and appreciate you, our owners! You make the difference every day through the choices you make to support healthy food and a healthy community. Come on down this weekend and stock up and let us show you a little love!

Next week is Women's Week at PFC. We're featuring women-owned businesses, perhaps with some tastings and other promotions. And as we run up to Mother's Day, keep these events in mind:

  • Traditional Ricotta Cheesecake Cooking Class, Wednesday, May 8, 6:30pm - Chef Natasha Blake-Beach, the creator of many of your favorite PFC Bakery treats, will be teaching you how to make delicious ricotta cheesecake. This is a fun opportunity to sample cheesecake and handmade toppings and to spend quality time with a special woman in your life.
  • Grow It Yourself Day plant sale is happening Sunday, May 12. Bring mom by to load up on plants for your garden, and treat her to Special Sunday Brunch on the hot bar, 10am-4pm.

I can't wait to see your smile in the aisles of the store, and as we dive into spring at this weekend's farmers market.
