You're Fueling Amazing Work in Our Community

Hello PFC friends!

Thanks to all of you who came out for this last weekend's Owner Appreciation Days. We truly wouldn't be here if it weren't for the commitment of all our regular shoppers. Thank you!

Thank you too for fueling the amazing work of many non-profits in our community through the Change for Change program. Last year, we worked together to put over $26,000 to work in Kalamazoo to support everything from bike maintenance and social skills for youth to Black Arts programming.

For March, PFC has chosen Kazoo School needs-based scholarships. The Kazoo School has been in Kalamazoo since 1972, providing progressive education to young people. Please round up this month to support more youth having access to this educational gem in our community.

For the coming months, you'll see us rounding up for the following Kalamazoo-based non-profit organizations:

  • April: According to the ACLU, if people newly in recovery or returning to communities after prison have access to housing and employment within the first 30 to 45 days of re-entry, the likelihood of repeat offenses (recidivism) and or relapse are lowered by 72 percent. This spring a village of tiny houses will be built on Kalamazoo's Northside by Tiny Houses of H.O.P.E. to provide housing for those situations.
  • May: Providing opportunities for moms and community to connect, Mothers of Hope empowers and strengthens women, families, and communities to rise above the effects of substance use disorders, poverty, violence and systemic inequities.
  • June: In their 10th year of doing good, Merze Tate Explorers is a club for girls with the goal of exposing them to new experiences from meeting women in leadership roles, to a travel club for girls interested in traveling around their community and world to discover other women who have left an impact on the world.

It's a pleasure to be doing and supporting good work in the community with these fine organizations and efforts, and with you.

Thank you!
